Until I have more time, here’s a few more pictures from our beach trip – which I don’t think Lydia has posted. Hopefully, in the near future, I can upload some more of the ones we got:

A couple days ago, Mom, Johannes, Victor, and I headed down to California for a (really) quick trip to bring back my Grandma. I figured, seeing I don’t update much anyway, that I’d take the opportunity to make a blog post. We left Sunday morning and got back at 6:30 pm this evening. And the reason I’m doing one tonight is because I know that the longer I wait, the less likely it is I’ll make one. Besides I have school tomorrow!

This will be mainly in pictures – I’ll try and add a few explanations where necessary.

Still green and overcast. I think this was still in Washington.

Blue sky! For the rest of the trip until we left it was pretty much like this.

Passing through Oregon:

Entering California (I know – weird sign: I missed the actual “Welcome to California” one):

And the miles tick by… believe it or not, the trip actually went by pretty quickly: in fact it was the last half hour that was the hardest because we were almost there, but not quite.

Mt. Shasta

California is flat!

Sacramento!

Bad picture, but I snapped this for Lydia: see, we know of a place we can go to!

And we’ve arrived! This is a picture of my Grandma’s friend Monica, my Grandma, and my Mom:

After 1.5 hours of loading, they were ready to go! They left the day after we arrived at 10:30 am.

Mom

After the guys left I wandered around the campus and took pictures of everything.

Besides the college, the Christian Life Campus also has a high school, grade school, pre-school, church, bookstore, library, dormitories, and a radio center.

The High school

Radio center:

This is their “old” church building which they still use. It seats approximately 2,000 people:

The girl dormitories:

A rose I found:

The Hogue Library where my Grandma worked as a librarian:

They have some really old and neat books! It would have been wonderful to stay there for a while and just read everything but unfortunately I didn’t have time, so I took pictures instead:

This was a copy of a 1700s Encyclopedia. They had about 75 pages on Midwifery.

2 of the 3 volumes:

A copy of a 1611 King James Bible:

And a 15-something Geneva Bible:

The Haneys: founders of the whole campus:

These ones were about 110 years old:

After the library, we went over to the “new” church building. It reminded me a lot of Overlake Church in Redmond in the way it was built. Apparently it seats 6,000 people:

The Information Center:

Some of the instruments: they also had a drum set (which you can see a little of to the right), guitar/bass, piano, and organ:

Below are some pictures of different events during the past two months:

These things were born. Otherwise known as baby goats: I have to admit they’re pretty cute though. For now.

Greta, Peter and Iona had an Easter egg hunt.

Looks like Iona is taking after Lydia’s jumping skills.

And this reminds me of this photo.

I’m not sure what this reminds me of – but it seems a little familiar nonetheless. This was from Karl’s birthday at the end of March.

I was roped in to help with the <del datetime="2010-04-23T00:34:05+00:00">branding</del> dehorning of the goats again. Thankfully I had the “easy” job of holding the goat still: Lydia did the actual dirty work.

Now from this, you could get the impression that we actually enjoy burning goats. But in reality, we were laughing over the fact that we were telling the goat to calm down while searing his head with a red-hot iron.

And here’s my beautiful sis with one of the finished “products”.

In early April, the WPC Speech Club gave all the interps that they had been working on. Lydia played the prelude.

April 18th was Peter’s 8th Birthday.

Iona got pretty excited over the fact that one of his presents was wrapped several times so he had to keep unwrapping it:

That was just three of the seven layers, by the way.

And that’s all for now!

Enjoying spring (well, almost – it looks like spring):

Baking: lately I’ve been experimenting with sourdough. This past week I tried English Muffins with Mrs. Seifert’s recipe.

Reading:

Studying:

Writing:

Listening (mainly to History and Law lectures):

Cycling:
This was taken on a ride from last Saturday up in Cedar Creek.

Sewing:

No, I don’t think that I usually look that self-possesed when I’m doing it. But maybe someday…

Music:

After a very long hiatus, I recently started practicing this again. Despite the fact that I’ve never had a strong passion for music, I have enjoyed picking it up again.
